See how your room feels—and use the readings in your smart home
The square MOES temperature and humidity sensor puts room readings on an LCD screen and, through a compatible Tuya Zigbee gateway, on your phone. It is useful when you want to understand changes in a bedroom, living room or workspace rather than guessing from how the room feels.
This listing is the square ZSS-KB-TH-LF-C-MS version. It measures the air around its location; it does not heat, cool or humidify the room itself. A compatible gateway is required for its app functions and is sold separately.
Zigbee through a compatible gateway
The sensor communicates with a Tuya-compatible Zigbee gateway, not directly with a Wi-Fi router. Confirm the gateway supports this sensor before pairing it.
MOES, Tuya Smart or Smart Life
View the sensor in the app used by your compatible gateway. For monitoring away from home, the gateway and your phone need internet access.
Temperature, humidity and battery on LCD
Read the local values without opening your phone. Temperature units can be switched between °C and °F in the app. The comfort indicator belongs to the app, not the sensor screen.
History and threshold notifications
Review changes over time and set temperature or humidity limits for app alerts. Low-battery notifications help you know when the replaceable cell needs attention.
More useful than a single temperature reading
Follow the trend
The app provides temperature and humidity graphs with day, month and year views. Compare how the room changes during your routine, such as before and after ventilation. These views are not a promise of unlimited storage, a fixed reporting interval or laboratory-grade logging.
Choose meaningful alerts
Set the limits you want to watch in the device settings, allow notifications on your phone, and check that an alert reaches it. This can draw your attention to a warmer or more humid room, but app alerts depend on the battery, gateway, network and notification settings. They are not a substitute for a dedicated safety alarm.
Use readings as a scene condition
With a compatible actuator and a scene configured in your smart-home app, a temperature or humidity condition can request another device to operate. For example, a compatible humidifier could be switched on below your chosen humidity threshold and off above another threshold. The sensor only supplies the reading; the gateway, automation platform and controlled appliance must support the action.
For air-conditioning or heating, a compatible controller is also required. The sensor has no direct mains output or built-in universal infrared remote. Check each scene’s conditions and actions, and retain the appliance’s own operating protections.
Where it can be useful
- Bedroom or living room: glance at the screen before deciding whether to ventilate or adjust a compatible climate appliance.
- Home office: compare readings during the working day and use the history to see how sunlight, ventilation or occupancy changes the room.
- Indoor cupboard or storage area: watch the local humidity trend and set a notification suited to what you store. It does not detect leaks or guarantee protection against damp.
- Several rooms: use a separate sensor where you need a separate measurement, name each by location and compare the readings. One sensor does not measure the whole home.
- Smart-home routines: use confirmed temperature or humidity conditions with compatible plugs, controllers or appliances, after checking their electrical suitability and automation support.

Pair it and choose a useful measuring position
For a representative room reading, choose a position with normal air circulation rather than direct sun, a heater, an air-conditioner outlet or humidifier mist. Leave the ventilation openings clear and allow the sensor to settle after moving it. These are placement practices, not an added accuracy guarantee.
- Add your compatible Tuya Zigbee gateway to MOES, Tuya Smart or Smart Life first. Keep the sensor within the gateway’s usable coverage while pairing.
- Prepare the CR2032 cell and remove the battery insulating tab if fitted. Make sure the sensor powers on.
- Open the gateway’s page in the app. Hold the reset button on the back of the sensor until its Zigbee icon flashes, then choose Add subdevice and confirm the flashing indicator as directed.
- Complete the addition, give the sensor a location-based name and check both temperature and humidity readings. Select °C or °F, then configure any notifications and scenes you need.
- Place it on a table, hang it using the rear mounting arrangement or use the designated rear adhesive area for an indoor wall. Check the connection again in its final position.
Battery care and everyday limits
The sensor uses a replaceable CR2032 button cell, not a rechargeable internal battery. Follow the rear-cover instructions and fit the replacement with its positive side up, then close the cover securely. Battery life varies with use and conditions; no fixed service life is promised here.
Keep the unit dry. The manual says not to wash it with water or scrub it with acidic or alkaline cleaners. Use it for indoor environmental monitoring, not immersion, outdoor weather exposure or medical measurement. Keep the button cell and loose batteries away from children.
If the app stops updating, check the battery, gateway power and connection, and Zigbee coverage. Read the screen locally and confirm the app has reconnected before relying on remote notifications or automation.
Common questions
Can I connect it straight to Wi-Fi?
No. The sensor is Zigbee and needs a compatible gateway for app access. The gateway’s own network connection is separate from the sensor’s radio connection.
Does the screen show a comfort face?
No. The manufacturer places the comfort indication in the app. The physical display shows the readings and status symbols; it is not an air-quality or light-level meter.
Can it turn my air conditioner on by itself?
No. That requires a compatible air-conditioner controller and a configured scene. For voice-assistant use, only functions exposed by the linked gateway and platform are available; every reading and command is not guaranteed.
Can I use the reading as a certified reference?
The accuracy figures are manufacturer specifications, not an individual calibration certificate for this unit. It is an indoor environmental sensor, not a medical thermometer or a safety-critical monitoring system.
