Control two loads and monitor each channel’s consumption
The SONOFF DUALR3 combines dual-channel control and energy measurement in one Wi-Fi unit. Use it for two suitable loads in Switch mode, or for a compatible blind motor in Motor mode.
Choose the right operating mode
Switch two separate loads on or off in Switch mode. For monitoring without control, Meter mode provides measurement only.
Each channel’s consumption at a glance
Monitor energy data for each channel in the DUALR3; the measurement feature is specific to this version and is not available in the DUALR3 Lite.
Keep your wall switch
Supports external switch inputs, including push buttons, conventional switches and two-location control arrangements. A specialist selects the wiring, then the appropriate switch mode is set in eWeLink. The unit can also operate without an external switch when configured for app control.
Control the blind, not just its power supply
In Motor mode, the two channels control the two directions of one motor, preventing both directions from operating together. Open, close and stop commands are available; percentage control requires a suitable motor and travel calibration.
What you need to operate it
Live and neutral lines and a 100–240 V AC supply, with a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network and the eWeLink app; no Zigbee gateway is required.
For resistive loads: 10 A per channel and 15 A for both channels together. The motor limit is separate: 10–240 W / 1 A, and must not be replaced by the resistive-load limit.
For a motor: check its type and wiring for both directions, and select Motor mode; percentage control requires calibration.

Three modes for three different needs
Switch — control two loads: Switch each channel on and off independently while measuring its consumption. For example, a main lighting circuit and a secondary lighting circuit, each on a different schedule.
Motor — control a bidirectional motor: The two channels form one control system for opening or closing a blind; they are not for two independent motors in this mode.
Meter — measurement only: The supply stays connected, and the device collects consumption data without on/off commands. This mode is not a way to disconnect the load remotely.
Choose the mode to match the wiring and load; it is not just a change to the app’s appearance. Do not use the unit for two independent loads and a blind motor at the same time.
Is your blind motor compatible?
A straightforward example is an AC tubular motor with a neutral wire, a separate wire for each direction, and an earth wire; it must be within 10–240 W / 1 A. Some motors with both wall-switch and remote control can also work through their appropriate wall-switch connections.
A motor controlled only by a built-in remote receiver, with supply wires but no separate direction wires, does not automatically become compatible. The unit is also not a general-purpose dry-contact output or a DC motor controller.
To reach a specific opening percentage, the motor needs steady movement and correctly set travel limits, followed by calibration in the app. Without suitable travel limits, do not assume accurate percentage control.
Practical application ideas
A room with two lighting circuits: Control the main and secondary lighting separately, and compare energy use for each channel rather than one combined reading for both loads.
A roller blind or shutter: Schedule morning opening and evening closing, or stop at a suitable opening percentage after calibration.
An awning or electric projection screen: Only a possible application when its single-phase motor matches the required direction control, power and current limits, and travel limits.
Monitor two loads without changing their operation: Select Meter when the requirement is energy measurement rather than control.
These examples do not mean every motor or lamp is suitable; check the load specifications, starting current and installation-box space first. The unit is not a lamp dimmer or a general-purpose motor-speed controller.
Measurements and schedules in everyday use
DUALR3 displays voltage, current, power and consumption data for each channel, with a history you can review. Switch mode provides schedules, countdowns, repeating on/off cycles and automatic shutoff after a set duration; Motor mode supports scheduled motor movement.
In supported modes, OPS settings can switch off a channel when the configured monitoring thresholds are exceeded. This function is not presented as short-circuit or leakage protection, and should not be assumed to provide a disconnect command in Meter mode.
Sharing, voice control and local operation
Share control with other eWeLink accounts, and link the service to supported platforms such as Alexa and Google Home for voice control. Local control through the same router is available for supported functions; access from outside the home and cloud integration require a suitable internet connection.
DUALR3 is not a native Matter device and does not need a Zigbee gateway. Do not assume all energy settings or operating modes carry over to every third-party platform. For additional integrations, check support for the exact model and operating mode.
Turn off the lighting at a time you choose
When: A time set in an eWeLink schedule is reached.
Action: Turn off the selected lighting channel.
What you need to get started
Add the device to eWeLink and select Switch mode.
A compatible lighting load installed by a specialist within the device’s limits.
Usage notes
The example applies to Switch mode; Meter mode does not perform control.
Remote control requires network connectivity; do not assume that every platform feature works without internet.
Usage guidance
Appropriate installation and protection
A qualified electrician installs and maintains it after disconnecting the supply; do not make connections while power is present, and an app command is not isolation for maintenance. The SONOFF manual requires a 15 A MCB or RCBO breaker upstream of the unit, with circuit suitability reviewed.
The per-channel limit is not the total limit
For resistive loads, the limit remains 10 A per channel and 15 A in total; both channels must not each carry 10 A at the same time. The separate motor rating of 1 A does not become 10 A because both outputs are used.
S1 and S2 terminals are not a low-voltage control output
The electrician must follow SONOFF’s diagram for the external switches and their mode; do not treat their terminals as dry contacts that are safe to touch. The two load outputs carry mains voltage; they are not isolated, voltage-free outputs.
Frequently asked questions
How do I choose a suitable blind motor?
Check the motor type, load limits, and wiring for both directions before buying. A motor with wireless-only control is not necessarily compatible; a specialist must review the required control method.
What is the difference between DUALR3 and DUALR3 Lite?
This page is for DUALR3, which includes energy metering and Meter mode. Do not apply these metering specifications to Lite, even if the housings look similar.
Does it need a neutral wire behind the switch?
Yes. It needs both live and neutral for its supply, so it is not an option for a live-wire-only installation. A specialist should check neutral availability, box depth and cable routing before purchase.
