A press for your routine, a turn for finer control
Keep useful smart-home actions within reach instead of opening your phone for every change. The MOES SYT-ZB01 is a compact, battery-powered Zigbee controller with a pressable rotary knob. After setup, it can call your chosen scenes or adjust supported smart lighting from a bedside table, desk or convenient wall position.
It sends wireless commands: it is not a wired mains dimmer and does not carry the power supplied to a lamp, fan or other appliance. You need a compatible Zigbee gateway and compatible smart devices. An ordinary Wi-Fi router alone cannot pair this controller.
Zigbee connection
Pairs with a compatible Zigbee hub, not directly with a Wi-Fi router. The hub and target smart devices form part of the system.
App setup
Use MOES, Smart Life or Tuya Smart for scene configuration. The documented remote light-group binding feature specifically requires MOES.
5 customizable gestures
Single press, double press, hold, clockwise turn and counterclockwise turn can be assigned in Scene mode. Choose actions supported by the connected devices.
Flexible placement
Battery power, a magnetic base and an adhesive placement option make this compact controller easy to position without mains switch wiring.
Two modes, for two different jobs
Scene mode: make the gestures your own
Scene mode is the factory default. Configure five separate actions in the app: a single press, double press, hold longer than 2 seconds, clockwise turn and counterclockwise turn. These are five configurable gestures—not five fixed scenes that arrive pre-programmed for your home.
One gesture might call your reading scene while another switches off selected compatible lights. The results depend on the actions exposed by the connected devices and the automation options available through your hub and app.
Rotary steps can also be useful for supported adjustments. The manufacturer's illustration includes lighting and curtain positioning, but explicitly requires the controlled device to support step-by-step adjustment. A curtain motor that only exposes open/close commands does not automatically gain percentage adjustment from this knob.
Remote mode: operate a compatible smart-light group
The matching manual describes direct light-group control through the MOES app. Add the button and suitable smart lights to the same Zigbee gateway, bind them into the same group, and press the button to activate the initial light connection.
- Single press: on/off.
- Turn left or right: reduce or increase brightness.
- Hold and turn: adjust colour temperature where the light supports it.
- Hold longer than 2 seconds: adjust colour where the light supports it.
A dimmable white light does not become an RGB light, and an on/off-only lamp does not acquire dimming. Available operations depend on the selected lights. The manual identifies this binding feature as MOES-app-only; do not assume the same remote-mode workflow is offered in Smart Life or Tuya Smart.
Change modes with three rapid presses. This is different from holding the rear Set button for pairing.
The hub and app are part of the system
For the manufacturer's supported setup, use a compatible Tuya/Smart Life Zigbee gateway. MOES, Smart Life and Tuya Smart support scene setup, while the documented remote light-binding feature specifically uses MOES. Add the gateway before adding the button.
After successful group binding, the manual says the button can control that supported light group even when the gateway is offline. This is a limited group-control feature—not a promise that every scene, Wi-Fi device, cloud service or remote phone function will continue without its required connections. Initial setup still needs the gateway.
Advanced users: Zigbee2MQTT lists SYT-ZB01 and documents command/event modes and action reporting. That is not a guarantee of identical behavior on every coordinator, hub or device revision. Check the exact integration and required gestures before planning a custom system.
Practical routines you could configure
These are suggested uses of the verified scene and light-control functions, not extra built-in capabilities or claims of universal compatibility:
- Bedside: choose one press for a comfortable reading scene, a second gesture for selected lights off, and rotary adjustment for supported lighting. Keep the normal light controls available too.
- Desk or study: assign separate gestures to your preferred work and relaxed-lighting settings. This is useful when you want a repeatable scene rather than choosing every device individually.
- At the door: call an “arriving home” scene or switch off selected compatible smart devices as you leave. Decide exactly which devices belong in the scene; do not include essential equipment merely because an app permits it.
- Living room: keep the controller near the sofa for a movie-lighting scene or dimming a compatible light group. It is not a television remote or a volume controller by itself.
- Supported smart curtains: assign opening/closing scenes, or step adjustments only if the motor/controller and app expose that function. No curtain motor is included in the controller's function alone.
Placement without running switch wires
The magnetic base and adhesive placement option let you keep the controller where your hand naturally reaches. It can also be used as a portable control. Choose a stable position that remains within useful Zigbee coverage, and test the actions at the intended location before fixing it in place.
The round body is 45 mm in diameter and 26 mm high. No mains wiring is needed for the button itself. Its lifestyle illustrations do not establish waterproofing: no IP rating or wet-area installation permission is claimed here.

Setup and battery care
Setup checklist
- Use the matching SYT-ZB01/ZT-RD02 instructions, not the older CR2032 rotary model's manual. Fit the correct battery and secure the cover.
- Add a compatible Zigbee gateway to the chosen app first. The controller cannot join a Wi-Fi router directly.
- Hold the rear Set button for 3 seconds, until the indicator flashes rapidly. Complete device addition through the gateway; the manual allows 10–120 seconds for joining.
- Start in Scene mode and assign the gestures you want. For remote light mode, follow MOES's same-gateway group-binding procedure instead.
- Test each action and intended light function at the final position. Keep the controlled smart devices powered and available to their network.
Battery and care
The controller uses a CR2450, 3 V coin cell. The matching manual shows a screw-secured rear battery cover: follow the marked polarity and refit the cover securely after replacement. Whether a battery is included in the local package should be confirmed rather than assumed.
MOES advertises up to 365 days—about 12 months—under normal use. Treat this as a manufacturer estimate, not a fixed replacement interval: the battery, gesture frequency and wireless conditions affect real use.
If a gesture does not do what you expect
First check the selected mode: three rapid presses change it. Then confirm that the intended gesture has an action assigned, the target device exposes the requested function, and the required hub/network is available. If rotation produces no adjustment, check step-by-step support rather than assuming every slider in an app accepts rotary commands.
For pairing problems, check the correct CR2450 battery, polarity, secured cover and rear-Set pairing sequence, then follow the matching manual. A delayed or missing action should be diagnosed before relying on a scene for something important.
Common questions
Can it dim an ordinary bulb directly?
No. It controls compatible smart devices wirelessly; it does not regulate mains power through lamp wiring.
Can I use it without any hub?
Not for the documented initial setup. The limited offline light-group behavior requires prior compatible gateway/group binding.
Does one knob control every Zigbee product?
No. Pairing support and exposed actions differ. Check the gateway, app and target device together—not only the Zigbee name on the box.
Are smart lamps, a gateway or curtain motor part of the button?
They are separate system components. This controller sends the configured commands; the target device performs the action.
